U.S. News and World Report ranks 5 UHCL online degrees

Five online master’s degree programs at University of Houston-Clear Lake were named in U.S. News and World Report’s 2022 Best College rankings. The magazine reports it assessed 1,728 online programs and ranked them across all disciplines according to overall academic quality. UHCL’s ranked programs include degrees in business, technology, and education.
New degree equips early childhood teachers

University of Houston-Clear Lake is among just eight Texas universities offering a degree aimed specifically at teacher candidates interested in focusing on early childhood years. The Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education Pre-K-3 will be offered in fall 2022.
Two UHCL ceremonies honor fall students, prior ‘virtual’ graduates

Over 1,000 University of Houston-Clear Lake fall 2021 graduates will receive their degrees and be recognized during an in-person commencement ceremony on Dec. 12 at 12 p.m. and 5 p.m. at Minute Maid Park. Of those, 645 will be recognized for receiving their undergraduate degrees, and 363 will receive their graduate degrees.

The word “game” invokes images of children sitting in front of screens for hours. Generally, the word is not associated with adults engaged in constructive work. Nevertheless, gamification and “serious” games, which are defined as games with a specific, measurable learning objective, have become an instrumental tool for acquiring new skills in the workplace.
Pathways to STEM Careers grant increased, extended

The U.S. Department of Education has awarded a $4,036,338 grant to University of Houston-Clear Lake targeting Hispanic/Latino/a/x and other low-income students in a STEM-related degree program. This new project builds upon the work of the "Pathways to STEM Careers" grant originally awarded in 2016 for about $3.7 million.

Back in August of 1975, the construction of University of Houston-Clear Lake’s campus was barely complete. Robert Jones, who had been employed at NASA as a missions planning and operations officer in the Public Affairs Office, was awarded a one-year visiting professorship position, at University of Houston’s main campus.

UHCL spring 2021 commencement ceremony to be virtual

Over 1,150 University of Houston-Clear Lake spring 2021 graduates will earn their degrees and be recognized during a virtual ceremony on Sunday, May 16, at 10 a.m. Of those, 737 will receive their undergraduate degree, and 413 will be recognized for receiving graduate degrees.
